A better work day than yesterday, partly because I sent off the text I’d written to the person I’d written it for, and he was very pleased with it. So that started the morning off well, and the next task went rather more smoothly.
In the afternoon, the GF and I returned to the paint shop and bought two more samples. The samples we had bought previously were:
- Ipeksi 15, a sort of greyish white
- Ipeksi 30, a slightly warmer feeling white
- Dolu 35, a more definite cool grey
- Ruzgar 40, a pale blue
- Hibiskus 10, a pale pink
To which we added
- Bej 10, mysteriously grey, not beige
- Ipeksi 60, a forgettable white
On Monday the paint guy had been in the flat so he put the samples up. Today there was no one, so I put them up myself, quite disgracefully, but I’ve never painted a wall in my life and simply watching closely was clearly not enough to pick up what is, at the end of it, a skilled sort of job. Anyway, we applied samples to two places, one in the sunlit living room, and one in the hallway which doesn’t get direct light. We finally chose Ipeksi 30, which felt like it had a richness and glow, and would also balance out the Italian paint we are using on a couple of walls. Plus, well, paint is easy to change.
Since we had to buy the paint samples in 1.25l containers, we will reserve those for the basement store, which will be a pastel rainbow.
Then, this evening, we received the estimate for paint from our architect and queried it as we thought our last payment covered the paint. That was indeed the case, so it really felt like we’d saved over a thousand pounds.
